Anniko van Santen presents at AVRO among others ‘Anniko’s Wild World Travels’, ‘All Animals Count’ and ‘Zoo’ and ‘Crime Investigation Requested’. Anniko grew up mostly in North Limburg, in Roermond to be precise. Here she completed a gymnasium education and worked in her free time at the local broadcaster. With a diploma in hand, Anniko left for Amsterdam to study psychology. But television beckoned; for the Roermond TV, Anniko once made a report about Bart de Graaff and B.O.O.S., the predecessor of BNN. During the filming, she left a tape of herself in Hilversum.
In 1989, it happened when the bosses of the new commercial channel Véronique came across this tape. They were looking for presenters and Anniko was hired. Anniko gained most fame with her RTL 4 program ‘Cartoon Express’. After her extensive experience with various commercial programs, Anniko made the transition to the Public Broadcasting in 2000. At TROS, she presented among others the wildlife youth series ‘Ranger Report’. Since 2005, she has been presenting Crime Investigation Requested. In 2009, she won the television quiz ‘The Smartest’. Anniko van Santen is a professional moderator and is a star in conducting interviews.
