Anke Plättner is a skilled and experienced television journalist and presenter. She has been familiar with the Berlin political scene for more than ten years and has conducted countless interviews and discussion rounds with Germany’s decision-makers.
For the television channel “Phoenix,” she led the talk show “Phoenix Runde” for more than six years. Three times a week, she discussed current topics from politics, economy, and society with high-profile guests. For more than five years, she reported as a correspondent for both Phoenix and WDR on all political topics.
Not only on television is Anke Plättner a competent interlocutor and presenter. For many years, she has been moderating events across Germany in the fields of politics, economy, and church.
Whether with Presidents Rau, Köhler, and Wulff, at the Open Day of the Foreign Office with the Federal Foreign Minister, at specialist congresses of the BDI (Federation of German Industries), or in detailed discussions such as those between Federal Finance Minister Schäuble and former Bishop Prof. Wolfgang Huber for the Evangelical Church in Germany – Anke Plättner confidently leads through the event. The big stage is also not unfamiliar to her; she moderated the opening and closing of the Church Congress in Cologne open-air in front of 70,000 visitors.
Anke Plättner has a special relationship with the Netherlands. After her high school graduation, she completed a voluntary social year in Amsterdam, then studied at the School of Journalism in Utrecht (Hogeschool voor de journalistiek). Since then, she speaks fluent Dutch. For many years, she has been leading the Netherlands Program of the “International Journalists’ Programmes e.V.”, an exchange program for young German and Dutch journalists. Since January, Anke Plättner has been working as a freelance consultant for the Dutch consulting firm Meines&Partners.
After her studies in the Netherlands, Anke Plättner was trained as a radio and television editor at WDR in Cologne (West German Broadcasting). She made a name for herself as a presenter on the show “Aktuelle Stunde,” the successful regional magazine of WDR. She was responsible for special broadcasts on the federal elections and was the responsible editor for the documentary series “Menschen hautnah”.
As part of the Arthur Burns Fellowship, she received a scholarship and worked for two months as an editor at NBC in Denver, Colorado. She maintains her good relations with the USA to this day as a “young leader” of the Atlantik Brücke.
For the WDR aid organization “Die Kinder von Perm,” she regularly reported from Perm in Russia about children with cancer and accompanied the construction of a hospital funded by donations. She is a member of the organization’s board.
Since January 2013, Anke Plättner has been working as a freelance journalist, presenter, and consultant and moderates the WDR live television program “Eins zu Eins” once a week. Additionally, she regularly conducts the political interviews for the ARD-Morgenmagazin from Berlin.
