Günter Verheugen

Günter Verheugen was a member of the European Commission from 1999 to 2010. In his first term, he was responsible for enlargement and from 2002 also for neighborhood policy. In his second term, he was responsible for enterprise and industry and simultaneously coordinated policies to strengthen European competitiveness as Vice President. Additionally, he served as the European Co-Chairman of the Transatlantic Economic Council from 2007 to 2010.
