About Jacques Lecomte

Jacques Lecomte teaches at the University of Paris Ouest-Nanterre La Défense. He is interested in all aspects of positive psychology and, more generally, in what could be called positively oriented human sciences, a theme on which he has written several books. He was elected in 2009 as the founding president of the French and Francophone Association of Positive Psychology. After working on resilience (of which he is one of the best Francophone experts) and on the meaning of existence, he has broadened his research scope and is particularly interested today in how values such as trust, cooperation, respect, transparency, solidarity, responsibility, and courage make sense not only in interpersonal relationships but also at the social level. They can even be embodied in political action and in businesses, thus contributing to the common good. His conviction, based on scientific research: the best way to be realistic is to be deeply idealistic. He regularly speaks to training organizations, businesses, social institutions, associations, etc.
