About Erik Decamp

Erik Decamp’s passion for the mountains came to him in 1972, at the age of 18. At that time, he was still a student at the École Polytechnique in Paris. It was with his parents that he first approached the mountains, but the discovery of climbing was to decide his future. At the same time as he graduated from l’X in 1975, he became a high mountain guide. Since then, he has pursued both vocations, spending more time in the mountains than in an office!

As a young guide, he quickly became a professor at the École Nationale de Ski et d’Alpinisme in Chamonix to teach the profession to future guides. After a few years, he once again decided to chart his own professional path, being both a scientific consultant and a professional mountaineer.

Since 1982, he has undertaken more than 15 expeditions, most of them in the Himalayas, sometimes as a guide and sometimes for high-level ascents. Whether at the summit of Everest, on the north face of Jannu, or on the south face of Aconcagua, or with clients on simpler peaks, these mountains continue to captivate him. In the Alps, from beginners to experienced mountaineers, he accompanies his clients in their discovery of the mountains, enabling them to achieve their own technical level and reveal their potential.

Today, guided by the synergy between his two passions, he offers conferences, seminars, and training for companies. His proposal is to introduce them to a fascinating world that can enrich their own experience and help them progress.
