About Alicia Kaufmann

Alicia Kaufmann Phd. Tenure in sociology of Organizations and Change Process Consultant. Tenure in Sociology of Organizations in Spain (University UAH) and Executive Coach, by Aecop. She holds a doctor’s degree in Sociology from École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris and other one from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. She is currently Academic she taught during several years at Instituto de Empresa management school. She was a Fulbright scholar twice, once at Yale University to specialize in organizational behaviour and in Salzburg Seminar, focused on leadership issues. She is member of Ispso (International Society of Psychoanalisis of organizations) and Opus (Organization for promoting understanding of Society).

Her multicultural background (European parents, born in Argentina, Spanish children) opened up a range of interests and a curiosity for life that has led her to explore several different paths. In 1984 she was part of the executive team of the first Escuela de Gerencia Hospitalaria (Hospital Management School) in Madrid. Before that, between 1980 and 1983, she was on the first team to train Barcelona police officers on issues of social deviation. From 1997 to 2000 she trained as a Tavistock Model consultant. She has also worked as a facilitator for Stephen Covey, author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, from Utah (USA).

Her scientific work product of her several researches, includes 22 books and 75 articles such as “Líder global: en la vida y en la empresa” (Global Leader in Life and at Work), published by Universidad de Alcalá de Henares in 1999, and “Construir equipos de trabajo en la era de la conexión” (Building work teams in the connected age), published by Universidad de Alcalá and Caja Madrid in 2003, with a foreword of the president of IBM Spain). Her research about women’s transition to upper management, “Mujeres directivas: transición hacia la alta dirección” published in Opiniones y Actitudes, No. 56, March 2007. (British version Woman in management and life cycle, London, Palgrave, 2008).

Kaufmann was an active member of FEDEPE, a federation of women in business. She has two children who are “fortunately” no longer teenagers, she is part of the firm Alika Nueva Vision Formación SL, which specializes in innovative training techniques. Kaufmann is currently also teaching short courses on Tools for effectiveness among female executives. A short version of her last research has already been published in Spanish under the name Alt@ Dirección. Editorial Lid, Madrid, 2009. InIspso, intenational Congress in Denmark she will present a paper on Money as a hidden way of dependency in woman.

Currently she is working on small seminars about “Innovaton and team work”, as well as training Directors to become entrepreneurs, in other words reinventing themselves… Briefly, leadership, innovation, team work, and changing gender identities, are her most outstanding presentations.
