Thijs van de Graaf is een Geassocieerd Professor Internationale Politiek aan het Ghent Institute for International and European Studies, Universiteit Gent, België. Zijn onderzoek bestrijkt de kruising van energiebeveiliging, klimaatbeleid en internationale politiek.

Over Thijs van de Graaf
Thijs van de Graaf is ook fellow bij het Payne Institute aan de Colorado School of Mines, de Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP) aan de Johns Hopkins University, en het United Nations University Institute for Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS). In 2011 was hij een gastonderzoeker aan de Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University.
Zijn nieuwste boek, Global Energy Politics, werd in april 2020 gepubliceerd door Polity. Daarnaast is hij ook co-editor van The Palgrave Handbook of the International Political Economy of Energy (Palgrave, 2016), Rising Powers and Multilateral Institutions (Palgrave, 2015), auteur van The Politics and Institutions of Global Energy Governance (Palgrave, 2013) en co-auteur van Global Energy Governance in a Multipolar World (Ashgate, 2010).
Thijs is een bijdrager aan het 2020 Production Gap Report, geproduceerd door vier toonaangevende onderzoeksorganisaties in samenwerking met UNEP. Hij was de hoofdauteur van het IRENA-rapport Geopolitics of the Energy Transformation: The Hydrogen Factor (2022) en hoofdschrijver voor het rapport A New World: The Geopolitics of the Energy Transformation (2019) van de Global Commission on the Geopolitics of the Energy Transformation. In 2016 was Thijs lid van de Atlantic Council Task Force on the Reform of the Global Energy Architecture. Van 2009 tot 2011 was hij lid van de S.T. Lee Study Group on Global Energy Governance onder leiding van Ann Florini en Navroz Dubash.
Bovendien is Thijs van de Graaf lid van de redacties van Energy Research & Social Science (Elsevier), International Environmental Agreements: Politics, Law and Economics (Springer), Humanities and Social Science Communications (Palgrave), en Sustainability (MDPI).
