Marion Clignet, a Franco-American (herparents are French) was born and raised in the USA. She discovered at the age of 22 that she had epilepsy and would have to take medication for the rest of her life. Since then she made a promise to herself and to those who may suffer from any obstacle in their path that nothing would get in her way when it came to achieving what she set out to achieve. So with epilepsy in tow she has since won 6 world titles, 2 Olympic silver medals and over 180 races across the globe. She discovered her passion for cycling when she lost her diver's license for a year due to her first seizure. Her bicycle became her excellent replacement for her car and allowed her to get to work and gave her a sense of freedom and independence. As she rode back and forth, she kept wanting to break her records and eventually tried a race and loved the adrenaline and excitement. It then became her dream to make it to the very top of her sport, race with the best and win. After achieving her 6 world titles and Olympic medals, she officially retired in 2004. She still runs 40-85kms a week and ride her bike anywhere from 100-450kms a week. She recently became the first female coach for a professional French cycling team.
