Maureen was born on the first summer day of 1974 in Lesotho (Africa). When she was 4 years old, she was adopted by a Dutch family of doctors. At the age of four, she moved from warm Africa to the drizzly Netherlands. Here, she spent her youth in the quiet Utrecht town of Bilthoven.<\/p>\n
After completing her secondary education, Maureen went to Uppsala, Sweden, for a theater course. Back in the Netherlands, her television breakthrough soon followed as Lisa Zoomers in the SBS 6 soap Goudkust. Du Toit played Lisa from 1996 to 2000.<\/p>\n
Contrary to the expectations of many, Maureen stopped her television work in 2000 to pursue a psychology degree at the European Institute for Psycho-Social Education. But the screen continued to beckon.<\/p>\n
In 2001, she exchanged acting for presenting and made her debut on ‘Heart of the Netherlands’. Besides ‘Heart of the Netherlands’, Maureen also presented the ‘James Bond Journal’ and the much-watched and feared ‘The Taste Police’, where rogue hospitality entrepreneurs are put in their place.<\/p>\n
