Bertrand de Broc is well known for having to stitch his own tongue: during the 1992 edition of the Vend\u00e9e Globe, he cut his tongue in a collision with a mainsail sheet. After consulting the race doctor via telex, he performed the suture himself.<\/p>\n
On February 29, 2012, he announced his intention to participate in the Vend\u00e9e Globe 2012-2013, and proposed to finance the race, as he had done for his participation in 1996, by inviting individuals and companies to sponsor him, in exchange for which their name would be marked on the hull of his boat. He relaunched the operation Your Name Around the World.<\/p>\n
