He is also a member of the editorial or advisory board of the journals Esprit &#038; Ecology and Politics.<\/p>\n<p>He is or has been a member of several French commissions: the CFDD, the Coppens Commission responsible for preparing the Charter of the Environment now linked to the French Constitution, the National Council for Sustainable Development, and he served as vice-chair of Commission 6 of the Grenelle Environment Forum and the study group on the functionality economy. He also participated in the Environmental Conference of September 2012.<\/p>\n<p>He has been a member of the scientific council of Ademe and participated in the scientific council of the Institute of the City in Motion. A former president of the societal council of EDF, he currently chairs the stakeholder council of CDC Climat and is vice-president of the Nicolas Hulot Foundation. He also participates in the State of Vaud&#8217;s Foresight Body.<\/p>\n<p>His research areas include the study of ecological thought, the evaluation of technological choices and risks, the precautionary principle, public debate, and ecological democracy.<\/p>\n<p>He has published around twenty works, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Artificial Man, Gallimard, 1996<\/li>\n<li>Nature and Technique, Hatier, &#8220;Optiques Philosophie&#8221; series, 1997<\/li>\n<li>So That the Earth Remains Human, with Robert Barbault and Nicolas Hulot, Seuil, 1999<\/li>\n<li>Addressing the Risks of Tomorrow &#8211; The Precautionary Principle, with Jean-Louis Schlegel, Seuil, 2001<\/li>\n<li>The New Age of Ecology, Editions Descartes &#038; Cie &#8211; Charles L\u00e9opold Meyer, 2003<\/li>\n<li>Perspectives on Industrial Ecology, Foreword by President J.
