Camille Pascal is an author, historian, and French audiovisual personality born in Montpellier (H\u00e9rault). Coming from a family from the C\u00e9vennes, he is the grandson of Georges and Lucie Pascal, who were posthumously awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations in 1994. After completing a kh\u00e2gne at La Bruy\u00e8re high school in Versailles, Camille Pascal obtained his bachelor’s degree in history from Nanterre La D\u00e9fense University and continued with a master’s degree and a DEA in modern history at the University of Paris I Panth\u00e9on Sorbonne. He became an agr\u00e9g\u00e9 in history in 1990 and became an assistant in Modern History at the Sorbonne, then at the University of Picardie Jules Verne.<\/p>\n
Alongside his teaching career, he became involved in political life by serving as the general secretary of the States General of the University in 1995 within the cabinet of Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou, then Minister of National Education. He was tasked with overseeing the reform of the University.<\/p>\n
In 1997, he was appointed agr\u00e9g\u00e9 professor at EHESS and joined the historical research center. He is also close to Philippe Douste-Blazy, whom he accompanied in his political career and served as an advisor to the President of the UDF group in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n
In 2001, Dominique Baudis, then President of the Higher Council for Audiovisual (CSA), appointed him Chief of Staff. He thus became one of the witnesses and actors in the Baudis\/All\u00e8gre affair.<\/p>\n
In March 2006, Camille Pascal was appointed Deputy General Director in charge of development and diversification at France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions. He initiated a partnership between France 2 and Google during the 2007 presidential election, as well as the first catch-up television service accessible from any terminal.<\/p>\n
In September 2007, Camille Pascal became the Secretary General of the France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions group, which led him to collaborate on the reform of public broadcasting. Starting in November 2008, he also took charge of the group’s communication direction and became Vice-President of the France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions Foundation. The year 2008 also marked his literary success as his book “Le Go\u00fbt du Roi, Louis XV et Marie-Louise O\u2019Murphy” received the Prize from the Cercle des Amis de Montesquieu.<\/p>\n
On January 6, 2011, he was appointed advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, particularly in charge of media under Nicolas Sarkozy.<\/p>\n
On May 3, 2012, he was appointed State Counselor. Camille Pascal is notably a Knight of Arts and Letters (2002), of Academic Palms (2003), and of the National Order of Merit (2007).<\/p>\n
