Books
Vinco David’s books have been published in Dutch. His novel 'Mannenharem' (‘Tale of the 1002nd Night’) is situated in ancient India during the reign of the Mughal dynasty. The novel has received excellent reviews. The story contrasts liberal court Islam of several centuries ago with Muslim conservatism today. This has attracted the interest of Dutch film maker Eddy Terstall, among others. Based on the novel, Eddy Terstall made a short film with the same title as the book in 2007.
His novel 'Achter het riet' (‘Behind the cane’), takes place at the time when the Dutch West India Company conquered Brazil. In this novel Vinco David combines his literary talent with his wide economic and historical knowledge. The West India Company and East India Company as the world’s first publicly listed multinationals, the tulip trade boom and bust, the international scramble for commodities: all of these themes are being dealt with in his historical novel and are still of powerful significance today.
Vinco David’s unique strength is his ability to combine creativity with a thorough business understanding and wittiness. He has inspired many an audience.
