About Serge Hefez
Serge Hefez is a physician and a hospital psychiatrist. He has worked as a psychoanalyst and family & marriage therapist. He is responsible for the unity of family therapy in the department of psychiatry of child and adolescent in the hospital de la Pitié Salpêtrière, he is involved in many national and international symposia on the problems of couples and families. He is also responsible for a psychological support service for people affected by AIDS.
His essay on marital relation, 'La Dance du Couple' (The dance of the couple), which is translated into several languages, was a great success. He is also the author of 'Sida et vie psychique' (AIDS and your mental life), 'Quand la famille s'emmêle' (When the family tangles), 'Un Écran de fume' (A smoke screen), 'La Famille adolescente' (The adolescent family) and 'Les nouveaux ados' (The new Teens). He published in 2008 'Dans le coeur des Hommes' (In the hearts of men), an essay on the male identity, which won the 2008 Psychology Prize, and he wrote 'La Sarkose obsessionnelle' (The obsessive Sarkos), an essay on contemporary narcissim.
Serge Hefez is the author of several documentary series for television including 'Psyché' (Psyche) and 'Accro' (Hooked) on France 5 (which was nominated for the 7 d'or). He is a columnist for the Journal of Health on France 5 and intervenes regularly in the print and broadcast media. He decodes every week the news on his blog of the newspaper Liberation and he runs the show 'Familles hebdo' (Family Week) on Parenthèse Radio.
