Lidewy Hendriks was born in Bussum, the Netherlands, and stems from a family of artists and teachers. She first studied Clinical Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. After receiving her Master's degree she immediately left for England, to start working as a psychologist. After an intensive year during which she learned a lot – not only about English politeness – she went back to Amsterdam to work for several organisations, among which the University of Amsterdam. But growing up between artists kept her mind wandering so she quit her job as a psychologist. She started a theatre-programme in Brussels. After classes she worked as a model, mannequin and actress. She kept up with actual developments in psychology by translating psychological articles for scientific magazines (English-Dutch). Even before she was kicked out of the theatre-programme she started working as an anchorwoman for AT5, the well-known TV-channel of Amsterdam. She hosted and helped build the daily traffic news from nothing to one of the most successful programs of AT5 and as such became famous in Amsterdam and surroundings. She presented more programs at At5 'AT5 Nieuws', 'De Zwoele Gracht', together with Frank Awick, 'De Donkere Dagen' and 'NoordZuidlijn in Beeld'. Also Lidewy went on tour for several theatre-companies: Mirakel en Leporello in Belgium; in Holland she performed for Agatha Christie's 'and then there were…' in all the main theatres. During this tour she worked with George van Houts, Tom de Ket, Leonoor Pauw, Cas Enklaer en Hugo Haenen. As a freelance actress and host she combines psychology with her experience in acting. She has been asked as a psychologist-expert in a national TV-program 'Beauty Enzo' and she worked as a reporter/item-director for 'Zondag Effect' (a financial program) at another national channel. As an actress she is busy for in-company-movies and training-programs and she often appears in soaps as a guest. She worked for many big companies who wanted her to present their events (Prorail, Hydron, Uitmarkt, Daf, etc.) When presenting events and congresses Lidewy adapts tot the needs of the situation by concentrating on the contents, retrieving these from the public powerfully, colourfully and with humour. This style makes her suitable to present events with a wide ranch of topics. She has a sharp mind, always ready to improvise. Whatever the circumstances, she creates a natural, characteristic positive atmosphere.
