An American from Chicago, Joe has more than two decades of international experience, as an entrepreneur, marketing manager, and business school dean and lecturer. He has expertise in conceptual marketing, public relations, relationship building, and in driving educational organizations through market turnarounds. He is opportunity and value driven.
Joe was awarded the MBA from Yale in 1991, and the Diploma from the Institute for Political Studies in Paris in 1984.

He currently lectures in the fields of entrepreneurship and competitive strategy in Dutch business schools, and, as an external expert, helps business schools design and implement effective enrolment strategies, and build and manage new programs, executive seminars, events and academic competencies.
He launched Webster University’s International Center for Entrepreneurship, in Leiden, Holland, three years ago and served as its first director. A year later, he designed and launched the university’s first graduate program in the field. He received an invitation from Harvard Business School to bring his students into a virtual entrepreneurship class project with peers from HBS, INSEAD, and several other leading schools around the globe.

Joe was recruited to the Netherlands a few months after the launching of Laureate Online Education to help guide the pioneering start-up through a crucial market turnaround. As the firm’s Vice President for Sales & Marketing, Joe designed and executed marketing models that led to 1,000 students, $10,000,000 in tuition revenues, and European market leadership, in 24 months.
Marketing Director of Computer Associates in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 1997 – 99.
Earlier, based in Paris, Joe directed marketing throughout the EMEA region for the enterprise financial software division of CA, then the world’s second largest vendor of business software. Reporting directly to the General Manager EMEA, he tailored corporate marketing platforms to local marketing needs in 55 countries, guided a major market roll-out across the region, and supported unsurpassed sales growth of more than 50% in the European Union.

Joe steered the flagship Paris campus of the Chicago-based business school through a critical turnaround and lifted its MBA programs from last place to market leadership among all American business schools in France by tripling enrolment. He successfully launched a new campus in Milan, and obtained U.S. regional accreditation for all programs on both campuses.

In the eighties, Joe taught at the Sorbonne University and in American university programs in Paris in the fields of International Relations and English as a second language.

Joe is a solicited speaker before professional and university audiences on themes related to business, education and society. He is often invited to judge entrepreneurship contests. He is active in the Yale Alumni Association and was formerly its president in Paris. His articles have appeared on the opinion pages of The Wall Street Journal Europe and The International Herald Tribune.
