About Jean Baechler
Jean Baechler, born March 28, 1937 in Thionville (Moselle, France). Jean Baechler has a degree in History and Geography, a diploma of Higher Studies of History and aggregation of History. Jean has a doctorate in Letters of the university René Descartes in Paris.
He was a professor of History and Geography at the Lycée du Mans (1962-1966), of sociology at the Sorbonne (1966-1969), of the political sociology at the EHESS till 1986 and professor in sociology history at Sorbonne till 2006 when he became professor Emeritus.
Jean Baechler did research on many (history and political) sociologic subjects and was director of the National Centre for Scientific Research and was a member of the European Centre for History Sociology.
Jean Baechler received an award of the Academy of Moral and Political sciences for his research and groundbreaking views.
