About James Keen
Jim Keen has been coaching for more than thirty years serving leaders from business, government, non-profit non-governmental organizations and higher education. Since 1998 he has worked extensively in Europe, where most of his coaching clients are entrepreneurs heading their own companies with fewer than 100 employees. He has also coached and co-designed leadership development programs for Unilever and Fortis Bank. Early in this decade he coached the initiators of the Young Bankers for change project at ABNAmro. He works in collaboration with Schiphol based Executive Learning Partnership and The Leadership Center in Arnhem, NL.
Jim Keen earned his doctorate from Harvard University where he also administered the Interdisciplinary Committee on International Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He has held teaching appointments at Harvard and several other Universities. At Monmouth University he was the first incumbent of The Millicent Fenwick Distinguished Chair. He also served as Vice president and Dean of Antioch College, as founding Executive Director of the Governor’s School of New Jersey, as chairman of the board of The International Center for Integrative Studies, as Senior Research Scholar at The Bonner Foundation and as Vice president of Education as Transformation. Keen is co-author of Leadership Landscapes and of Common Fire: Leading Lives of Commitment in a Complex World. He has published both as Jim Keen and as James P. Keen.
Jim Keen is an experienced speaker, having addressed numerous audiences on a variety of topics related to leadership and decision making over the past 25 years.
Since 1996 he has addressed a number of audiences on the topic of personal Commitment, relating research findings and interpretations from his book, Common Fire, Leading Lives of Commitment in a Complex World (Beacon Press, 1996.)
