Born 1958, man. Sporty, team player ànd loner, dreamer ànd realist, storyteller, inspirator, expedition leader, watcher ànd do-er.

Story of my life: I defied death, denied gravity, challenged life, railed the cold. Tortured my guardian-angels. Asked the utmost of my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual boundaries. Always worked in teams, laughed with them, cursed, cried with them. And: hardly been on a payroll.

History: I was on the summit of Mount Everest as a climber/cameraman and I was on K-2. My hardest expeditions were a successful 70-days struggle to the Geographic North pole and a epic journey on the Northface of Jannu (7710 m) where two of my team members died...

I selected a international team to cross the Australian Gibson-desert on foot, sailed with teenagers to Antarctica fitting in the whole of climate-change, etc.

Now: since ages partner of De Beukelaar Groep with big proud and joy. The strong metaphors of the expeditions are immense: teamwork, motivation, leadership, communication, conflicts, ownership, responsibility, fear, pressure, strength and weaknesses, changing environments, hostility, threads, doubts, power, proud, circle of influence, just work, base camps, our (dis)ability, etc.

During presentations I use breathtaking slides and films to expose the essences of teamwork and personal leadership. The focus is not me and expeditions, but the relation to daily work of the people in the audience. Practical, sometimes theoretical and with vulnerable reflection.

More and more I am asked to function as a ice-breaker, as a crowbar in small teams where help is needed. Where it’s necessary to break through patterns, or to penetrate to the core of blockades within a team. We create moments of harsh reality and direct conversation, but we create reflection, wisdom, understanding and ease as well. And action, vitality and fun of course. It’s wonderful when a team recovers itself in a series of meetings to full strength again. Where the people are aware of their own keys to function successfully. Individually and as a team.

Sometimes, not always, situations like this need an environment where people can’t escape from each other and experience dependency. Then a situation in nature gives opportunities; on a sailing yacht, a mountain-hike, or on the heath land.

Quote from Edwin de Beukelaar:

"This famous adventurer (now (adventurous) partner) has been everywhere (Mount Everest, K2, North pole, South pole, deserts…) and by telling their (not his!) story he changed into trainer, wasp and effective lonely rider in sessions, events, programmes and coaching/guiding, panel chairman."

"Hard to handle and that’s why we “love” him…"

My BHAG: “Stirring up fires within people and connect them”.
