Bertrand Nivard is a former leader of the Patrouille de France, now a Canadair pilot within Civil Security, after having been an airline pilot. He speaks on themes of leadership, team spirit, and the pursuit of excellence.
Bertrand Nivard has led formations at 800 kilometers per hour, six meters apart, in front of millions of spectators around the world. As a former Leader of the Patrouille de France, the elite aerobatic team of the French Air Force, he knows what it takes to perform at the absolute limit, every time, with no room for error.
His journey to this role was built on two decades of operational excellence. With a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering, Bertrand joined the French Air Force in 1994, piloting the Mirage F1 during NATO operations and completing six operational missions in Africa with 74 combat missions. In 2003, he was appointed Squadron Leader within the legendary Normandie Niemen squadron, before joining the Patrouille de France the following year, where he performed over 140 official presentations worldwide, first as a team member and then as Leader.
Since leaving the Air Force, Bertrand has added two new chapters to an already remarkable career: piloting Canadair aircraft on the front lines in the fight against forest fires in the South of France, and then joining a major airline as an airline pilot.
As a speaker, Bertrand brings the Patrouille de France to professional audiences, decoding the philosophy of leadership, team culture, and human values that underpin one of the most demanding performance environments in the world. His themes of excellence, trust, collective precision, and leadership under pressure resonate directly with the challenges organizations face daily.
Few speakers can claim to have led a team where the standard is perfection and the consequence of failure is immediate. Bertrand Nivard is one of them.
