With his extensive experience as a politician and top international diplomat Ad Melkert is a gifted speaker who is able to explain international issues and current topics in Dutch and European politics in a broader context and to share experiences about leadership and making difficult decisions under pressing circumstances. His knowledge offers the possibility of an inside view behind the scenes of intercultural management in international organisations and of a comprehensive analysis of global economic and political developments, showing the “bigger picture” behind events and trends.

Ad Melkert held prominent positions as the Dutch Executive Director at the World Bank Board (2002-2006) in Washington DC, Deputy Head of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in New York (2006-2009) and Special Representative of UN Secretary General Ban Ki- moon for Iraq (2009-2011) in Baghdad. Previously he served as Dutch Member of Parliament and finance spokesman for the Labour Party (1986-1994); Minister of Social Affairs and Employment (1994-1998); and Labour Party leader in the House of Representatives (1998-2002).
